Steve Kopandy is the Director of the Cycle Cities network, and the creator and host of the #bookdirect Symposium.
During his 10 year tenure as the Business Manager at London Bicycle Tour Company, Steve oversaw a period of explosive growth and a complete reshaping of the business. This was in response to the dynamic changes in the tours and activities marketplace, with the rise of Viator/Tripadvisor, Get Your Guide and the multitude of followers that ensued.
In 2011, Cycle Cities was created to bring local operators closer together, into a partnership that would give them more exposure to a direct audience, and facilitate the sharing of information and best practices amongst the members.
The first Cycle Cities ‘Powwow’ was in Berlin in 2015, and was the first gathering of city bike tour operators ever. Since then, the yearly events have grown in size, changed in name to ‘Symposium’ and under Steve’s leadership, have helped bike tour operators come together to share, support, and attract the attention of the wider industry.
Steve has organised, hosted and presented five Cycle Cities Symposiums. Each year he personally welcomes every guest and makes sure they are properly introduced to other attendees. Steve is also a touring musician, so he knows how to work a crowd! Steve combines his real passion for communicating with a confident, yet laid back vibe, that sets the tone, and gets the point across.
