Cathrin Eszbach

Biography

Cathrin is a Civil Engineer, Architect, Globetrotter, Hostel Owner and Network Enthusiast!

After three years of working for an architect in Germany’s beautiful north, she quit and started travelling, and was bitten by the travel bug. Whilst wanting to settle, but still wanting to be involved in travel, She opened a backpacker’s hostel in Osnabrueck, Germany in 2001, Penthouse Backpackers.

As a hostel owner she instantly saw the need for German hostels to network together and gain strength. In 2002 the Backpacker Network Germany was founded, and Cathrin was elected one of the leaders in 2009. Since then she has seen her role grow into linking hostels globally, and takes a strong interest in meetings where hostel owners of all nationalities gather. She is behind backpackers-united.eu and takes part in many conferences.

Cathrin knows the power of conferencing and networking, and is excited to be joining us at the #bookdirect Symposium 2020.
